KindSt. Pete

St. Petersburg, Florida

Random acts of kindness.
Together.

A couple of hours, once a month. Show up, do something good with a few other people, get coffee after.

No membership, no fee, no commitment, no experience needed. Come once and never again, or come every month. Both are fine.

What this is

Small things, done by a few people, once a month.

Buying someone flowers. A card with cash in it. A meal for a stranger. Cleaning up an alley. Planting something. A morning at a food bank. Sitting with someone who could use the company.

None of it is complicated and none of it needs a special skill. The only real trick is turning up — which is easier when a few other people are turning up too.

So that's the whole thing. First Saturday of the month, one or two hours, somewhere in St. Pete. We tell you where to be and what we're doing. You come if you can.

The rules

Four of them, and that's it.

Nobody pays anything

No fee, no dues, no donation button, no collection. If an event needs supplies, we say so up front and you bring what you can. Some months that's nothing at all.

We don't film people's faces

Especially not the people we're helping. We photograph the work — hands, cards, bags, plants. If you'd rather not be in a photo at all, say so when you arrive and you won't be.

We do what the organisation asked for

Not what we think would be nice. Before every event we ask the food bank, the shelter, the park programme what they actually need. Then we do that, at the size they agreed to.

We start and finish on time

Two hours means two hours. You can plan the rest of your Saturday around it. If three people show up we run it anyway.

Your turn

Got a better idea than ours?

Most of what we do came from someone who turned up once and said "we should try…". If you know a street that needs cleaning, a place that needs hands, or somebody who could use a good day, tell us.
